Between 10 a.m. and noon on 25 February, a digital information event on the restoration of the grid and supply will be hosted by the Forum Network Technology/ Network Operation of the VDE (VDE FNN). The event is to provide information and opportunities for dialogue, e.g. on the further development of restoration plans. For this purpose, the VDE FNN has drawn up notes on the restoration of the grid and supply as part of the System Stability Roadmap, which was coordinated by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The status report “Bundesländer mit neuer Energie – Föderale Energiewende 2024/2025” published by the Renewable Energies Agency provides a stocktaking of the energy transition at Länder level. It contains Länder factsheets complete with KPIs and examples from real life. These factsheets shed a light on the regional and structural factors that have an impact on the expansion of renewables, on the heat transition and on the transformation of the transport sector. On 8 January 2026, the Bundesnetzagentur published the figures for the successful bids in the auctions for onshore wind turbines that were submitted by 1 November 2025. The bid amount of more than eight gigawatts is the highest on record for a single auction. It also means that, throughout 2025, every single auction was oversubscribed. At the same time, the award figures fell again compared to the preceding round, meaning that the cost of the funding continued to fall. Find out more
An online tool requiring minimum information about rooms and radiators can tell owners if their building is already set up for a heat pump, whether a low-cost replacement of some radiators would suffice to get there or whether modernisation work is required first to reduce heating demand.
