New research network launched

The Energy Transition and Society Research Network is to become an open platform for dialogue the societal aspects of the energy transition A new video shows what the members are working on.

Technological innovations alone are not enough – the energy transition needs active participation. The Energy Transition and Society Research Network, initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK), connects science, industry, and society in order to develop viable solutions and make findings visible.

The energy research networks provide impetus for energy and research policy issues. The focus is on topics in social science, such as public perception, participation, and societal change.

Dr Gerrit Stöckigt (Research Centre Jülich) emphasises the enriching exchange across institutions. Citizens’ initiatives and associations are also represented, including Lydia Takit from the Citizens’ Energy Alliance, who emphasises the inclusion of the citizens' perspective as particularly valuable.
