tagesspiegel.de, 26 January 2026: “Energy policy: North Sea states are accelerating expansion of wind power” (in German only)
In its online edition, the Tagesspiegel daily reports that the generation of offshore wind energy in the North Sea is to be increased almost tenfold by 2050. At the North Sea Summit in Hamburg, the energy ministers of the North Sea states signed an investment pact to this effect with the wind energy industry and the grid operators.

Almost four years after the beginning of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the EU is ending imports of Russian energy, WirtschaftsWoche reports on its website. The phase-out, which is to divert money away from Moscow’s war chest, was agreed at a meeting in Brussels on Monday.
ntv.de: “Operators: battery-powered train uses roughly 70% less energy in test (in German only)
ntv has taken a closer look at Hesse’s first battery-powered train in regular operation. Preliminary tests showed that it uses some 70% less energy than traditional diesel-powered trains. The train can go 120km on a single charge at speeds of up to 140km/h.
