If you swap your petroleum or gas-fired heating system for a system based on renewables, you may be eligible for federal funding. The German consumer advice centre (Verbraucherzentrale) provides information on the new funding system that has been in force since 21 July 2026.

Geothermal energy is increasingly being harnessed. The Handelsblatt daily newspaper reports on the advantages of geothermal energy and explains why the most recent project moves to the next level.

tagesschau.de, 2 September 2026: ‘Germany granted approval for providing billions of euros worth of funding for gas-fired power stations’

Tagesschau.de looks at the European Commission’s approval of Germany’s plan to fund the construction of new gas-fired power plants in Germany by providing up to €35 billion. The new power plants are to run on hydrogen at a later point in time.
